Business cards in Cluj-Napoca
For many businesses in Cluj-Napoca, the business card is still the first physical object a new client holds, so it deserves attention from the file you send us to the box we hand over. We produce the standard 85×55 mm format on 300 g/m² card, printed in colour on both sides, cut to final size after we check the file you send. We check the file resolution and colours and explain any adjustments before production. Below we explain how to prepare a correct file, why the hierarchy of text matters on each side, how we check contact numbers, and what a working QR code actually means on an 85×55 mm card.
Real size and the safety margin
The finished format is 85×55 mm, but the file sent to print needs 2 mm of bleed on every edge, so the cutting blade does not leave a white line if the position shifts by a fraction of a millimetre. Inside the card we keep a safety margin of at least 3 mm from the final edge, where we avoid placing text or logos, because anything glued to the edge risks being cut off.
Name and information hierarchy on both sides
A card read in three seconds needs a clear hierarchy: usually the person's name is the strongest element on the front, followed by the role, then the company name and grouped contact details. The back usually carries a larger logo, a short line, or company details if the front is dedicated entirely to the person. The issue we see often is the order reversed, a tiny name, a huge logo, a phone number set in the same size as the website address, so the eye does not know where to land first.
Readability at real size
Text that looks fine enlarged on a laptop screen can become unreadable at a real 85×55 mm, especially with several roles or several phone numbers on one card. We recommend a minimum of 7–8 point type for secondary text and strong contrast between text and background; light text on a pale background or thin type on a textured background is hard to read even at normal reading distance.
Vector logo files, checked raster images
Your logo should reach us as a vector file, AI, EPS, or a PDF built from vector art, because at 85×55 mm any small raster logo looks blurred or pixelated as soon as it is scaled up for centring. If you only have a raster version, for example a JPG saved from a website, we check the actual file size against print resolution before confirming the order, since a small image stretched across the card loses edge clarity.
Checking contact details and numbers
The most expensive mistake on a business card is not a design one, it is a wrong digit in a phone number, a domain spelled with an extra letter, or a wrong postcode. Because such an error is easy to miss on a quick read, we check each string of digits in the file separately, phone, registration number if present, address, and ask you to confirm these details before we send the file to cutting.
The QR code, if you include one
If you add a QR code to a website, a social profile, or a digital contact card, test it with a phone from a proof at actual size before submitting the file. A QR code that is too small, placed too close to the edge, or with weak contrast between the pattern and the background may not scan at all once printed on card, even if it looks correct on screen.
Paper and double-sided printing
The standard business card is printed on 300 g/m² card, in colour on both sides. If you prefer a paper from our premium range, with different textures for stationery, we have a dedicated page for business cards and invitations on Fuego paper, where the available options are shown clearly. Choose the paper option before sending the final file, since small text may need different adjustments depending on the surface.
Turnaround, pickup and courier
Standard production in 3–5 working days, express 48 h or urgent 24 h on request. Urgent production applies to print-ready files on receipt. Collect from Strada Victor Babeș 37, Cluj-Napoca, or receive the order by courier across Romania and the EU. Timing is confirmed before production.
Other materials for your project
For paper with other textures and finishes, see premium stationery. Banners and other displays beyond paper formats are covered on the large-format printing page.
Frequently asked questions
What file format do you accept for business cards?
We prefer a PDF with 2 mm bleed, but we also accept AI or EPS for vector logos; raster images must be sent at the real print size, not enlarged afterwards.
Can you fix a mistake in my file, like a wrong phone number?
We flag any digit or text that looks incomplete or inconsistent, but final confirmation of contact details stays with you before cutting.
Do both sides need the same design?
Not necessarily; the front usually carries the name and role, while the back can carry only the logo or company details, as long as the information hierarchy stays clear on each side.
What resolution should a background image have?
We recommend 300 dpi at final size.
Can I order several name variants in one order?
Yes, but each name variant needs its own checked file, and the quantity for each version is agreed with you before production starts.
Is pickup only from the workshop, or can you ship by courier?
You can collect in person from Strada Victor Babeș 37, Cluj-Napoca, or receive the order by courier across Romania and the EU; we agree the method before confirming the order.
How can I check that a QR code works?
Test the QR code on your phone from a proof at actual card size. Keep strong contrast and clear space around the code, and check that the destination opens correctly.
What is the difference between the standard card and the premium paper option?
The standard card prints on 300 g/m² card, double-sided; for different stationery textures you have the dedicated Fuego paper page with the actual options available.
